NewLeaf Airlines launches, offering flights from Saskatoon to BC and Ontario for $178 to $231 CAD roundtrip including taxes

NewLeaf, Canada's new 'low-cost model' airline has officially launched, and they've released their route map, including flights to and from Saskatoon airport (YXE).

From Saskatoon (YXE), the available destinations are:

Abbotsford/Vancouver, BC - flights on Mondays and Fridays - $178 CAD roundtrip including taxes
Kelowna, BC - flights on Mondays and Fridays - $178 CAD roundtrip including taxes
Hamilton, Ontario - flights on Mondays and Fridays - $231 CAD roundtrip including taxes

How does this compare to what the Air Canada / WestJet duopoly typically offer?

To Abbotsford/Vancouver, it's about 40% below the typical price of $300 roundtrip.
(Keep in mind, that you're flying into Abbotsford's YXX airport, which is a good hour's drive from Vancouver, assuming the traffic is decent)

To Kelowna, it's about 40% below the typical price of $300 roundtrip.

To Hamilton, it's about 50% below the typical price of $450 roundtrip.
(Hamilton is about an hour's drive from Toronto. Again, assuming the traffic isn't terrible)

Bringing the low-cost carrier European model to Canada

New Leaf's

low cost model is similar to what you find in Europe, meaning their prices include just the seat on the plane and a small carry-on item, and everything else (absolutely everything) costs extra.

Seats can be booked at www.flynewleaf.ca - and they begin flying on February 12, 2016.
